North Fort Myers Pilot Incentive Program sparks renovations for Merchants Crossing

In May, RD Management and Waldrop Engineering met with Lee County staff to present plans for Merchants Crossing in North Fort Myers.  Richard Birdoff, principal and president of RD Management, who has managed the property for almost three years, sees many  possibilities for the highly visible property off US 41.

Following a 2017 North Fort Myers market study, the Lee County Board of County Commissioners directed the Lee County Economic Development Office to research and design a program to spur the revitalization of areas within the County that have lagged in the ongoing economic recovery.

RD Management is working with the Lee County Economic Development Office and Lee County Community Development to take advantage of the opportunities the North Fort Myers Pilot Program offers.  Planned renovations include improved visibility corridors with new landscaping, façade upgrades, and a possible transition to a mixed-use property by adding residential units.  RD Management’s Property Manager Patrick Murphy says the goal of the façade portion of the project is to beautify the property with a more modern appearance and attract a stable mix of retail and commercial tenants.

Merchants Crossing, 15201 North Cleveland Ave. and Pine Island Road,  sits on 73.2 acres at a prime intersection in the Cape Coral trade area.  It is one of 11 properties owned by RD Management across Florida, and one of more than 150 properties in its national portfolio.
