The people, the business-friendly climate, and of course the beautiful environment.
Why did you choose to start a business in Lee County?
I visited Lee County as a teenager and fell in love with this area. The boom in construction in the 1980s provided the perfect opportunity to relocate from Virginia and learn the industry from the ground up.
Who is your target market/audience?
We are truly a full service construction management, general contracting, and design-build firm, and as such, cater to clients with small addition or renovation projects as well as highly complex institutional and industrial projects valued at well over $200 million. Examples of these include retail and office, club and hotel, education, multi-family, senior living, healthcare, and theater. Some of our landmark projects include Miromar Outlet and Coconut Point Mall, Lee County Emergency Operations Center, Six Mile Cypress Slough Visitors Center, Miromar Lakes Golf Club, LeeSar Regional Service Center, Golisano Children’s Hospital (in a joint venture with international contractor Skanska) and a $315 million expansion underway at Gulf Coast Medical Center.
What are your favorite parts of living in Lee County?
Seeing the impact GATES has on the community. It is incredibly rewarding to be able to mentor and employ a fantastic team of gifted and passionate professionals, build the facilities that we live, learn, dine, shop and worship in, and give back to the community by serving on numerous boards such as the Lee Building Industry Association, the Lee County Economic Development / Horizon Council, the Lee County Public Schools Education Foundation, and the Lee Memorial Health System Foundation, to name a few.
What is your perfect 24 hours in Lee County? What would you do?
Winning a project that has a special meaning to us and which we worked long and hard for, then go for a sunset celebration on the beach!
In your opinion, what makes Lee County’s business community special?
The networking and support of like-minded business partners. It’s a fantastic opportunity for growth and being able to enjoy the fruits of our labors in paradise.
What is the most exciting thing you see happening in your industry?
Incorporating technology, the focus on healthy living, social trends/open, collaborative areas, and green building principles
Why do you stay in Lee County?
Lee County has it all. All the amenities of a big city but with a small town character, great weather, and endless recreational opportunities. Lee County also offers every type of residential option, from trendy downtown lofts to beach cottages to family friendly suburbs to country club communities to country living. You can’t ask for anything better than that!

We’ve been blessed to have been building projects in Lee , Collier, and surrounding counties — many of them landmark projects – for the past 25 years. To be a small part of such a respected team is extremely satisfying and humbling at the same time.
