Fort Myers, FL, Oct. 8, 2018 – The Lee County Economic Development Office announced that Ruth Buchanan, MBA, CEcD, has been named its new Business Development Manager. Buchanan will be responsible for developing, managing and executing strategies to retain, expand and attract businesses to Lee County.
Buchanan brings several years of management experience, most recently serving eight years as the Economic Development Manager for the City of North Port, Florida. Her responsibilities included directing the department’s efforts in business attraction and retention while acting as a frequent liaison to local economic and commercial organizations.
“Ruth brings experience and a proven track record of success in the area of economic and community development,” said Glen Salyer, Assistant County Manager. “As a Southwest Florida resident, she will bring a great passion and familiarity with the area to her work.”
Buchanan is a graduate of the University of the Philippines and received her MBA from the International University of Japan. She earned the Certified Economic Developer (CEcD) from the International Economic Development Council. The CEcD is the leading industry designation and represents demonstrated competency in economic development with a high-level of knowledge and practical experience in the field.
