K-12 Education

Lee County is home to the ninth-largest school district in Florida and the 33th-largest school district in the nation. The School District of Lee County is a model school system that educates more than 85,000 students in grades K-12. The school district includes 29 high schools and six schools that received gold, silver or bronze medals in the U.S. News Best High Schools rankings.

In Lee County, the system of one neighborhood, one school, has been replaced with an open-enrollment system, which allows parents to choose where their child(ren) attend school. The School District of Lee County’s Student Assignment allows parents to rank schools close to where they live, and they can increase the chances of receiving their top choice by participating in the district’s lottery system.
