Horizon Council

Lee County in Southwest Florida is truly fortunate to have a community-wide effort in promoting economic development. Several key organizations, with the Economic Development Office of Lee County serving as staff, work together to improve the business environment.

The Horizon Council is the advisory board to the county commission on economic development issues. This unique public-private partnership is made up of 62 members from government, education, business and community organizations.

Established in 1991, the mission of the Horizon Council is to:

  • Work toward improving the business environment in Lee County;
  • Retain and encourage the expansion of existing businesses; and
  • Attract new and diversified employment to the area.
